A Little You Goes a Long Way

United Way's origins are rooted in volunteerism. We simply can’t accomplish our goals without the help of thousands of local volunteers. Our United Way gives you real opportunities to reach out a hand and influence the condition of all. Join a committee or roll up your sleeves. Either way your efforts will help to create opportunities for a better life for the people that live and work among us.

There are four ways you can get involved with United Way:

Volunteer opportunities
Attend an event
sponsorship opportunities
coordinate a campaign

Featured Volunteer Opportunity

Community Investment Review Panel Volunteer

The Community Investment Review Panel (CIRP) is an exciting and influential volunteer opportunity open to United Way investors.

As a CIRP Volunteer you will review applications of 3-4 programs seeking United Way funding. Selection as a Community Investment Review Panel Volunteer is competitive and limited to 60 volunteers.

United Way works closely with United Way Community Partners to ensure quality outcomes are designed and being met. CIRP Volunteers are required to attend a one-time training presented by Dr. Shawn Ginther, professor of Social Work at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Dr. Ginther will preview the Program Effectiveness Evaluation Tool that serves as a scorecard when reviewing applications. This tool is newly updated and includes a more focused emphasis on client outcomes and indicators.

Volunteers play an important role in ensuring dollars entrusted to United Way are leveraged to their maximum capacity by evaluating programs’ client outcomes, financial stability and the overall impact on the community.
