Pep Rallies, Popcorn, Pop Prizes, and Lunch with the Principal: A United Way campaign for our students at “United Way High”

United Way team members taking part in their internal fundraising campaign activities during their 'United Way High' themed week

Fall is just around the corner and our team is excited to partner with volunteers and companies to get them ready for the annual United Way campaign. But before fall, all of us at United Way wanted to bring some “school spirit” to our own office with our workplace campaign.

At United Way High we care about giving back to the community that supports us. That’s why we busted out our finest vintage homecoming gear to host our very own United Way fundraising campaign last week.

Homecoming festivities included:
• A lively kickoff pep rally lead by our own Principal Isley (AKA our President & CEO Karla) complete with a [one person] marching band and singing of the school song.
• Special appearances from the beloved mascot, “Donation Dino” who even delivered ice cream to all the students one afternoon.
• A “concession stand” in our cafeteria (AKA break room) with treats for sale with all process benefiting United Way.
• A classic sloppy joe school lunch served up in the cafeteria by our very own “Lunch Lady Shannon.”
• Daily inspirational announcements from our very own “Miss Lynch.”
• “Pop prizes” instead of pop quizzes throughout the week where students could win fun prizes like lunch with Principal Isley.
• Fiercely competitive penny wars where the losing team got “iced” with buckets of cold water and the winning team got “iced” (crowned) as our Homecoming Court.
• Theme days where students donned their best stars and stripes, festive tropical wear, and more.
• Students even shared “Yearbook pages” with photos of “Yesteryear You” – it was fun to guess which yearbook page belonged to which students at United Way High!

Our campaign concludes with a “Team Tailgate Party” at a local park. Our team was invited to bring their families and enjoy picnic food and time together on a summer evening!

Our United Way team whole-heartedly believes that giving back should be easy, meaningful, and fun – we can’t wait to see all of the energy-filled workplace campaigns you all will create and be a part of in the coming months! We look forward to helping you plan your internal campaign and seeing the great ideas our volunteers come up with to inspire their teams.
